Is Ciampino Airlink Free

No, unfortunately the Ciampino Airlink service is not free. The Airlink from Ciampino Airport is a paid service operated by Trenitalia. Due to the nature of the service, a set fare is charged to passengers using the Airlink service.

Why The Airlink Service Is Not Free:

The Airlink is now one of the main transfer services that connects passengers from Ciampino Airport to the centre of Rome by bus and train. Obviously, as you can imagine the running costs and overheads for operating such a service need to be paid for. As a result, there is a charge for using the Airlink service.

However, although the Airlink service is not free for passengers to use, buying a ticket is not expensive. A single ticket is currently €2.70 per person one way (at the time of writing). As a result of this low cost, it makes using the service a very cost effective way of reaching Rome. When you think that you can get from the airport in Ciampino to the centre of Rome for just €2.70 per person, I think you will agree that it is very good value for money. In fact, it it arguably the cheapest form of transfer from Ciampino Airport to the main train station in Rome.

As previously mentioned, the Ciampino Airlink service links passengers from Ciampino Airport (CIA) to the main train station in Rome (Roma Termini). The journey consists of travelling via both bus and train connections. The service runs at regular times throughout the making it a convenient option in terms of transfer to and from the airport.
